This project aims at using bio-based carboxylic acids as pronucleophiles in multicomponent reactions. In addition to improving the usefulness of these reactions, this strategy will strongly increase the overall eco-compatibility of such processes as it will combine the atom economic character of MCRs with the use of bio-based starting materials. Initial studies would be performed in the field of decarboxylative Mannich reactions, through activation of carboxylic acids by photocatalysis, for applications in the synthesis of new densely substituted nitrogenated building blocks.

A background in synthetic organic chemistry is essential, as well as an experience in catalysis. Additional knowledge in photoredox catalysis and/or multicomponent reactions will be a plus. The candidate must be curious, motivated, autonomous and should easily integrate the team.

Work Context

The work will take place at ICMPE (Thiais, France) within the ECCO group of the C3M department.
ICMPE is a joint research unit (UMR 7182) of CNRS and Paris-Est Créteil University (UPEC). It develops original and innovative research in the fields of chemistry and materials science. It is organized into 2 departments (C3M and M2I) supported by 6 technological platforms (NMR, chromatography, etc.)
The ECCO group (13 permanent staff) is specialized in Organic Chemistry and particularly on multicomponent reactions, coupling reactions and electrosynthesis
