Job Description

Missions

The candidate will develop new analytical methods for spatial proteomics analysis with a level of granularity down to the single-cell level. He/she will develop sample preparation methods based on laser microdissection coupled with a microfluidic system and state-of-the-art ultra-sensitive and ultra-fast nanoLC-MS/MS systems.

Activity

- Develop sample preparation methods based on laser microdissection down to the single-cell level and couple them with microfluidic robotics;
- Develop ultra-fast and sensitive nanoLC-MS/MS acquisition methods for single-cell proteome analysis using next-generation Q-TOF (Bruker TimsTOF AIP) and Orbitrap-Astral (Thermo) nanoLC-MS/MS platforms;
- Develop an innovative nano-chromatography system with enhanced sensitivity and higher analytical throughput (up to 140 samples/day);
- Develop bioinformatics and biostatistical strategies for the interpretation of single-cell proteomics data based on machine learning and artificial intelligence approaches;
- Publish and promote the results

Your Profil

Skills

General, Theoretical, or Disciplinary Knowledge
Expertise in bioanalytical chemistry, mass spectrometry, and proteomic analysis is required. Proficiency in bioinformatics tools for MS/MS data processing.

Operational Skills
- Expert in high-throughput proteomics analysis strategies, particularly for ultra-sensitive analysis;
- Expert in liquid chromatography techniques (reverse-phase chromatography) and tandem mass spectrometry;
- Master computational tools for LC-MS/MS data processing, including machine learning and artificial intelligence strategies;
- Master microfluidic and cell sorting systems;
- Manage work within an ISO9001-certified environment;
- Communicate and maintain scientific exchanges with project collaborators;
- Work in a team and collaborate within an innovative multidisciplinary context;
- Be proficient in written and spoken English at level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages for presenting results at conferences and writing scientific publications

Your Work Environment

The Hubert Curien Pluridisciplinary Institute (IPHC), a joint research unit under the supervision of CNRS and the University of Strasbourg (UMR7178), is a multidisciplinary laboratory where research teams from different scientific backgrounds (ecology, physiology and ethology, chemistry, and subatomic physics) develop high-level research programs, with scientific instrumentation as their foundation. The IPHC is structured into four departments and has a total of 393 staff members, including 257 permanent employees (119 researchers and faculty members, and 138 engineers and technicians), 46 fixed-term contract employees, and 102 PhD students.
The selected candidate will join the LSMBO team (Laboratory of Bioorganic Mass Spectrometry) at IPHC, where he/she will have access to state-of-the-art LC-MS/MS instrumentation for proteomic analysis. The project will be conducted in collaboration with the "Membrane Dynamics & Virus" team led by Dr. R. Gaudin (IRIM, Montpellier) and the Toulouse and Grenoble sites of the national proteomics infrastructure ProFI (UAR2048).
The candidate (M/F) will have access to a staff restaurant, partial reimbursement of transportation costs, a works council, the possibility of teleworking one to two days per week for some activities, subject to the agreement of the CMS team manager, and training to adapt to the job.
