The objective of this postdoctoral research is to develop and implement image processing methods in a deep Bayesian learning framework to compute gravitational shear observables for the upcoming Euclid and LSST large-scale cosmological surveys.
The successful candidate will collaborate with Dr. Eric Aubourg (PI of ANR AstroDeep), Dr. Cécile Roucelle and Dr. Alexandre Boucaud in the development of probabilistic deep learning methods for the measurement of gravitational shear.
These methods will be tested on existing simulations and public data (HST, DES, HSC). To this end, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to join the LSST and Euclid consortia.
The candidate must hold a PhD in physics/astrophysics, engineering, mathematics or computer science. Candidates with a scientific or technical background are invited to apply.
The APC laboratory, located in the centre of Paris (France), in a building of the University of Paris, is a multidisciplinary laboratory with researchers working in five main groups: cosmology, high energy astrophysics, gravitational waves, neutrinos and theory. The candidate will join the cosmology group, which has been involved for several years in the preparation of Euclid and LSST data processing, and whose main research topics are weak lenses, galaxy clusters and the cosmological diffuse background.
The successful candidate will join the AstroDeep team composed of experts in weak lenses, statistics, Bayesian neural networks and other related fields, located in France and the United States.
We support a flexible and family-friendly work environment.
