Job Description

Missions

Investigate the regulation of photosynthetic processes in green marine algae, with a focus on temperature dependence, environmental adaptation, and photoinhibition.

Activity

• Study photosynthetic regulation and photoinhibition mechanisms in diverse green algae using genomic and physiological approaches
• Analyze environmental datasets to understand adaptation across different habitats
• Investigate temperature effects on photosynthetic processes and photoinhibition using photophysiology and biochemical methods
• Apply time-resolved fluorescence techniques to characterize photosynthetic dynamics
• Collaborate on structural biology approaches to study membrane organization
• Conduct genomics and genetics in collaboration with Observatoire Océanologique de Banyuls-sur-Mer
• Build and analyze databases to compare photoinhibition processes with other organisms studied in the lab

Your Profil

Skills

• PhD in Plant Biology, Marine Biology, Biochemistry, or related field
• Strong background in photosynthesis research and photophysiology
• Expertise in time-resolved fluorescence techniques is essential
• Experience with genomic analysis and bioinformatics
• Knowledge of membrane biochemistry and lipidomics/proteomics
• Familiarity with photosynthetic membrane dynamics and photoinhibition
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English

Your Work Environment

The postdoc (M/F) will work in a well-equipped laboratory with state-of-the-art facilities for photosynthesis research, including advanced photophysiology equipment and access to internal experts in bioinformatics, structural biology, and marine microbiology. Genomics and genetics work will be conducted in collaboration with Observatoire Océanologique de Banyuls-sur-Mer.

Constraints and risks

• Field work may be required for sample collection
• Work with marine microorganisms in controlled laboratory conditions
• Potential travel to collaborator laboratories for specialized techniques
• Standard laboratory risks associated with biochemical and molecular biology procedures
