Job Description

Missions

The PEPR TRANSFORM programme (CNRS, IRD), funded by France 2030, aims to contribute, through transformational research, to reversing the current trends that are undermining human well-being and the living conditions of all living beings on Earth. To this end, the programme aims (i) to advance our understanding of the biophysical and social conditions of habitability, (ii) to strengthen the co-construction of knowledge between researchers and local stakeholders, with a view to transforming towards greater sustainability and habitability; and (iii) to explore the issue of interactions across scales – from the local to the global and back again – in order to create the conditions for conducting socio-ecological experiments and to draw lessons from their diversity, thereby giving the transformation a systemic character.
The successful candidate will contribute to work package 1 (WP1): Establishment and implementation of the EIT (Institut Transform) for a habitable Earth, led by Olivier Ragueneau.

Activity

He or she will be primarily responsible for conducting research into the Labos 1point5 network. This research will have three main objectives:
- to trace the origins of this project by examining the conditions under which it was structured. This will involve, in particular, identifying the entrepreneurs involved and understanding the framework(s) within which the environmental impact of the scientific work they are undertaking is framed. By examining the history of this movement, the aim will also be to understand how it has evolved, both in terms of the profile of those involved and the framing of the issue.
- to then analyse how the network operates in order to understand its activities and the way in which the circulation and adoption of the innovations promoted within it are organised.
- Finally, to understand how these practices relate to the institutional research environment, in particular to the policies developed by agencies, research organisations, universities and ministerial authorities.

The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for collecting the oral and written sources necessary to address these questions and analyse the findings.

He or she will also be responsible for drafting a report summarising the main findings and for presenting it to members of the network and the PEPR Transform project leaders. Throughout the project, the role will involve attending meetings with those responsible for other strands of WP1.
