Job Description
Missions
The postdoctoral fellow will work under the supervision of Dr. Plateroti and in collaboration with other team members as part of the program funded by the National Cancer Institute involving two French teams (Inca PLBIO 2024).
The postdoctoral fellow will contribute in particular to various aspects of the research project:
- analysis of the phenotype of tumors derived from mouse models using histological, cellular, and molecular biology approaches;
- development of normal tumoroid and organoid cultures and histological, cellular, and molecular analyses;
- analysis of data and results, and responsibility for their presentation;
- participation in the management of animal models in close collaboration with a research assistant on the team;
- participation in the writing of at least one original publication.
Activity
The postdoc (M/F) will be responsible for developing the above project. Specifically: - He/she is expected to learn the necessary approaches and carry out the work independently, from planning and conducting experiments to interpreting results.
- He/she will also work with mouse models and must have received training in French/European best practices for animal experimentation.
- In addition, he/she must be well-versed in the literature related to his/her project and actively participate in communicating his/her results both within the laboratory and externally.
Your Profil
Skills
- The candidate must hold a Ph.D. in biology or health sciences.
- The candidate is expected to have experience in the fields of molecular and cellular biology and biochemistry, as well as a solid understanding of cancer biology. Prior experience and/or training in animal experimentation is required; proficiency in cell culture (3D primary cultures) is a plus;
- These skills must be demonstrated by at least one publication as first, co-first, or second author related to the project's theme and activities;
- The candidate must have a positive attitude as a team member and must be able to communicate (both verbally and in writing) in English.

The IGBMC (Institute of Genetics and Molecular and Cellular Biology), one of Europe's leading biomedical research centers, is a Joint Research Unit affiliated with the CNRS, INSERM, and the University of Strasbourg. The successful candidate will work at the IGBMC and benefit from an exceptional international scientific environment. The IGBMC comprises approximately forty research teams divided into four scientific departments, along with state-of-the-art technological platforms on site. Research project on the mechanisms of colorectal cancer development and progression.
- The postdoctoral fellow (M/F) will join the “Physiopathological Roles of Nuclear Receptor Signaling Pathways” team, and will work more specifically within the sub-team “Function of the thyroid hormone nuclear receptor TRα1 in the pathophysiology of intestinal stem cells” led by Dr. Michelina Plateroti.
The selected candidate will contribute to research on intestinal pathophysiology, with a particular focus on stem cell biology in both normal and cancerous contexts. Specifically, he or she will study the cellular and molecular mechanisms responsible for the maintenance and activity of intestinal stem cells and their transformation into cancer stem cells. The site is accessible by tram (Line A, Campus Illkirch station) from the Strasbourg train station or by car (parking available). Public transportation costs are partially covered. The successful candidate will have access to the CROUS cafeteria.
