The Institut d'Astrophysique de Paris (IAP) invites applications for a 2 year postdoctoral position in primordial cosmology and theoretical high-energy physics, to begin in fall 2020 (flexible starting date, and possibility of a third year depending on financial resources). The salary depends on experience and includes a welfare coverage. A generous allowance is provided for travels in France and abroad, equipment and publication costs.
The recruitment is made within the GEODESI ERC project. Its aim is to determine the theoretical and observational consequences of the geometrical destabilization of inflation, whose consequences are important for cosmology and theoretical high-energy physics.
Applicants should have a PhD in physics by the starting date.
Applicants with interests in the field of primordial cosmology broadly defined are encouraged to apply, including high-energy physicists with a strong interest in cosmological aspects. Research themes of the group include for instance: inflation and curved field space, constraints on high-energy physics, stochastic inflation, lattice field theory simulations, (p)reheating, swampland conjectures, inflation and random matrix theory, primordial non-Gaussianities, primordial black holes etc.
Researches will be carried out at the Institut d'Astrophysique de Paris (IAP) under the supervision of Sébastien Renaux-Petel. IAP holds a rich visitor program and regularly organises workshops and conferences. The researcher will benefit from a lively and internationally visible research environment offering rich computational and intellectual resources, with IAP playing a key role in several major observational programs (notably Planck and Euclid). He/she will also benefit from the large community in cosmology/astrophysics and theoretical physics in the Paris region.
Applications consisting of a CV, cover letter, publication list, and a brief statement of research interests should be submitted into one pdf file through the website emploi.cnrs.fr
Applicants should also arrange for 3 recommendation letters to be sent directly to email@example.com. The application should be received before December 1st, 2019.
