Missions

The Software Development Engineer (M/F) will be responsible for contributing to the renewal of the infrastructure of the Deep Geothermal Data Center (CDGP, https://cdgp.eost.unistra.fr/) as well as the modernization of the digital infrastructures of BCSF-Rénass (French Central Seismological Bureau – National Seismic Monitoring Network). This work is part of the digital infrastructure modernization initiative currently led by ITI GeoT (Geosciences for Energy Transition, https://geot.unistra.fr/) at UAR830 EOST (School and Observatory of Earth Sciences) and ITES (Earth and Environment Institute of Strasbourg).
The objective is to enable data distribution in compliance with FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable), security standards for access, and the integration of new, diverse data types into the dedicated working environment.
The migration of software from the current architecture to a new one, aligned with other EOST observatory infrastructures, is underway and requires support for completion. The operational implementation will include a testing phase and ongoing monitoring/maintenance throughout the first semester of 2026.

Activités

Develop web applications to enable secure data distribution and ensure their management (e.g., DOI).
Oversee the final testing phase, deployment to production, and troubleshooting of issues arising from the new architecture.
Write scripts to query various web services.
Contribute to the development of the data server architecture.
Perform operational integration tests.
Conduct technology watch and ensure operational maintenance.
Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary scientific team to produce geophysical data at both local and national scales.

Compétences

Proficiency in TypeScript and Python for development and scripting.
Knowledge of web architectures, data exchange protocols (REST APIs, web services), and FAIR standards.
Experience in database management and access security.
Ability to work collaboratively in a scientific environment and communicate effectively with domain experts.
Attention to detail during testing, deployment, and operational monitoring phases.

Contexte de travail

The recruited engineer (M/F) will join the seismology team at ITES UMR7063 as part of the Geowtins CETP project, in synergy with ITI GeoT and EOST. You will work in a multidisciplinary and international environment, involved in European projects (CETP Geotwins and H2021 Geo-INQUIRE) as well as national initiatives (SNO). The goal is to strengthen transparency and scientific outreach regarding deep reservoirs, contributing to the energy transition through the implementation of robust and open digital infrastructures.
