Job Description
Missions
The postdoctoral researcher will join the LIMA Laboratory (UMR 7042) in Mulhouse, within the BSM team. Under the supervision of Dr. Nicolas Blanchard and Dr. Vincent Bizet, they will contribute to the ANR SOFTNMR project, in collaboration with the CEISAM Laboratory (University of Nantes) and the NIMBE Laboratory (CEA Saclay). This molecular chemistry project aims to develop pericyclic reactions suitable for real-time NMR monitoring, enabling the detection of intermediates and products at low concentrations.
Activity
The postdoctoral researcher will focus on:
• Investigating the reactivity of various heterocycles as dienes in intramolecular Diels-Alder cascade reactions (ihDA/rDA).
• Optimizing reaction conditions.
• Assessing the generality of ihDA/rDA sequences.
• Translating reactions into flow chemistry for real-time NMR monitoring (in collaboration with ANR SOFTNMR partners).
• Developing and publishing individual/collective articles based on project data.
The collected data is expected to enable real-time detection of intermediates and products at low concentrations.
Your Profil
Skills
We seek a candidate with a recent PhD in Chemistry, combining:
• Strong theoretical and practical expertise in organic/organometallic synthesis (laboratory experience required).
• Scientific curiosity for interdisciplinary approaches at the interface of molecular and analytical chemistry.
• Scientific rigor and critical analysis skills to design, execute, and interpret experiments.
• Collaborative mindset: ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and interact with academic/industrial partners.
• Autonomy and organization: effective management of priorities and deadlines in a dynamic research environment.
• Excellent communication: proficiency in French and English (written and oral, minimum B2 level) for reading/writing publications, presenting results, and engaging with the scientific community.
Your Work Environment
The Laboratory of Molecular Innovation and Applications (LIMA, UMR 7042) is a joint research unit affiliated with CNRS, the University of Upper Alsace, and the University of Strasbourg, with sites in Mulhouse and Strasbourg. The unit comprises 12 research teams, 3 platforms, and 3 technical units, employing 80 staff, including 46 researchers/lecturers/engineers and 34 PhD students and postdoctoral researchers. LIMA's research is organized into three axes:
• Exploratory research in synthesis methods and catalysis.
• Medicinal and phytosanitary chemistry.
• Supramolecular chemistry and modeling.
The selected candidate will join the "Biomolecules, Syntheses, and Methods" team, led by Dr. V. Bizet, under the supervision of Dr. N. Blanchard and Dr. V. Bizet. The BSM team consists of 4 permanent members and 6 PhD students and is located at the Donnet Research Institute on the Illberg campus of the University of Upper Alsace, which offers high-quality infrastructure and state-of-the-art analytical equipment.
Note: This position is located in a restricted access zone, and authorization from the defense security officer is required prior to arrival, in accordance with regulations.
