Missions
This project is part of our research programme dedicated to the discovery of prodrug antiparasitic molecules, precursors of active ingredients with redox properties. The aim of the project is to develop synthetic routes for constructing the basic skeleton, specifically substituted with groups conferring parasite targeting and bioavailability for oral administration. The key synthetic steps involve borylation and pallado-catalysed coupling of the Suzuki-Miyaura type. The research engineer (M/F) will be responsible for experimental work, characterisation and analysis (NMR, HPLC, etc.), writing scientific reports and will benefit from a research and innovation environment involving international collaborations.
Activities
Development of methodologies to synthesize functionalized derivatives of the lead compound. Major experimental work, analyses (NMR, HPLC, etc.), structure-activity relationships, writing of scientific reports and publications in English.
Skills
The candidate should have at least an M2 master's degree in organic chemistry, or at best a doctorate in organic chemistry. He or she should have a sound knowledge of organic synthesis and synthetic methodologies, as well as knowledge of medicinal chemistry. Experience in boron chemistry would be an advantage. We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated research engineer (M/F) who is committed to the project. In addition, the candidate should have good report writing and communication skills, a good team spirit and a minimum level of English for written and oral presentations of results.
Work Context
The research engineer (M/F) will work in the 'Bio(IN)organic and Medicinal Chemistry' team (UMR 7042 LIMA-CNRS). This team develops maturation projects in redox medicinal chemistry to combat several pathogenic parasites in humans. The team is backed by a physicochemistry research platform supported by a research engineer. In addition to 2 CNRS research directors and 1 CNRS IT, the group includes 1 PhD student and 2 post-doctoral researchers. The laboratory is located at the ECPM in Strasbourg (CNRS, Universities of Strasbourg and Haute-Alsace) in France. The research engineer (M/F) will work with students and post-docs under the supervision of the project manager (DR CNRS). His/her research work will be dedicated to the development of new lead transformations and the elaboration of strategies for the synthesis of molecules of interest in order to significantly improve their pharmacokinetic properties. The strengths of the 'Bio(IN)organic and Medicinal Chemistry' team lie in the complementary skills at the interface of chemistry/enzymology/physicochemistry within the team, the diversity and expertise of the teams that make up the LIMA unit, the international recognition of the team and of LIMA unit, the numerous academic and industrial collaborations, and the technological development, innovation and transfer initiatives.
The position is located in a sector covered by the protection of scientific and technical potential (PPST), and therefore requires, in accordance with the regulations, that your arrival be authorised by the competent authority of the MESR.
