Job Description
Missions
The successful candidate will join the dynamic team of the PROSECO project, a flagship initiative under the PEPR LUMA program (https://www.pepr-luma.fr/projet/proseco/). This cutting-edge project aims to advance the frontiers of spatio-temporal shaping in the mid-infrared and to apply these techniques to the structuration of semiconductors.
Activity
- The recruited post-doctoral researcher will develop a thermo-optically-addressed spatial light modulator (SLM) for the mid-infrared range (2–4 µm). This will involve initially adapting an existing reflective design, followed by exploring a transmissive version incorporating dyes or nanoparticles. The researcher will characterize the thermo-optical properties of the prototype and design a dedicated metrology setup to evaluate its performance.
- The SLM's shaping capabilities will be demonstrated through the generation of optical vortices, showcasing its precision in light field manipulation.
- In parallel, the post-doctoral researcher will contribute to the development of a versatile optical parametric amplifier (OPA) operating in the 2–4 µm range, tailored for laser-based semiconductor structuring applications. Their role will include spectral and temporal characterization of the OPA, as well as active participation in laser structuring experiments.
Your Profil
Skills
- The ideal candidate must have advanced expertise in at least two of the following fields: wavefront measurement and spatial light modulation using liquid crystals, infrared femtosecond laser technologies, or machine learning with neural networks.
- The candidate should demonstrate independence and autonomy in defining and pursuing research projects, with a strong record of significant scientific achievements.
- A PhD in Physics is required.
This position is intended for a senior postdoctoral researcher, and the salary will reflect this level of experience. Only candidates with more than two years of postdoctoral experience prior to the expected start date in May 2026 will be considered.
Your Work Environment
The Complex Photonic Materials and Systems team, part of the Institut de Physique de Nice (INPHYNI, Université Côte d'Azur | CNRS), focuses on exploring light-matter interactions and developing cutting-edge optical technologies.
