Job Description

Missions

This postdoctoral project aims to develop digital polymers capable of storing binary information at the molecular level. To achieve this, we will synthesize sequence-controlled polymers using a multi-step solid-phase approach, assisted by light irradiation. The project will require the use of reactors designed for this irradiation and will also explore the automation of chemical processes.

Activity

- Synthesis and characterization of monomers
- Kinetic study of model photochemical reactions
- Multi-step solid-phase polymer synthesis
- Polymer characterization using MS, GPC, HPLC, and NMR
- Development of an automated synthesis system
- Writing reports and publications

Your Profil

Skills

- Theoretical and practical skills in polymer chemistry
- Expertise in solid-phase chemistry
- Hands-on experience in photochemistry
- Fluency in scientific English (reading, writing, speaking)
- Ability to work in a team and independently

Your Work Environment

This recruitment is part of the PEPR moleculArXiv project, which aims to prepare macromolecules containing digital information. The successful candidate will join the Laboratory of Informational Macromolecules Chemistry (LCMI) at the Institute of Supramolecular Science and Engineering (ISIS). LCMI is one of the eight senior research teams at ISIS and consists of around fifteen members. ISIS is located on the Esplanade campus of the University of Strasbourg, which is easily accessible by public transport. The successful candidate (M/F) will have access to a nearby staff restaurant at a subsidized rate.

This project will also be carried out in collaboration with Jacques Lalevée's team at IS2M in Mulhouse. Research stays in Mulhouse will also be part of this postdoctoral position.

This position is in a sector subject to the protection of scientific and technical potential (PPST). In accordance with regulations, the appointment will therefore require authorization from the relevant authority of the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research (MESR).
