Job Description
Missions
For the project ANR (National Research Agency) BE SAFE, the GPM laboratory recruits a Researcher (fixed-term contract) in advanced correlative microscopy. The project proposes to extend the actual domain of application of the Photonic Atom Probe (PAP), an instrument coupling the capabilities of Atom Probe Tomography (APT) and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy in an in-situ approach.
The main goal of BE-SAFE is to provide a ferroelectric material downscalable to nanometric thickness and matching the requirements for its integration onto a III-nitride electronic platform. To reach this ambitious objective the correlation between the ferroelectric and the structural properties of ScAlN alloy will be studied from the macroscopic scale down to the atomic level.
Activity
- Development of correlative microscopy methodologies (responsible, main task)
- Identification of regions containing defects by standard scanning electron microscopy, electron beam induced beam imaging, cathodoluminescence imaging and spectroscopy. (responsible, main task)
- Asssitance in the instrumental developement of the Photonic Atom Probe (PAP)
- Fabrication using the Focused Ion Beam (FIB) of samples analyzed by Tomographic Atomic Probe (SAT) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). (responsible, main task)
- Calculation of electronic states by dedicated digital tools (e.g software nextnano) (secondary task)
- Publication of the results on international newspapers following the writing of scientific articles.
Your Profil
Skills
- PhD in Physics, Materials Science or Engineering
- Experience, during his PhD or post-doctorate, in two or more of these techniques: Atom Probe Tomography (APT), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Nano-fabrication by Focused Ion Beam (FIB) ), Spectroscopy and Cathodoluminescence (CL) imaging.
- In-depth knowledge of semiconductor physics, in particular applied to optoelectronic devices
For the adaptation to the position, GPM offers annual APT and TEM training.
Your Work Environment
The GPM (Group of Physics of Materials, UMR CNRS 6634) is structured in 5 departments: Metallurgy Microstructures Mechanics, Scientific Instrumentation, Functional Materials and Nanostructures, Disordered Systems and Polymers, Thematic Openings and Innovations. It brings together 140 staff including 56 Teachers-Researchers, 33 ITAs and 51 PhD students / PostDoct and Trainees. The laboratory is located on the Campus of Sciences and Engineering Rouen Normandy (in Saint Etienne du Rouvray), in the University of Rouen Normandy and INSA Rouen Normandy (7000m2).
The recruited researcher will be attached to the Instrumentation Department, Research Team in Correlative and in-situ microscopies / Methodologies (5 teacher-researchers / researcher, 2 IR, PhD students and fixed-term researcher), and will be required to collaborate with the research teams of Department “Functional Materials and Nanostructures”.
