The successful candidate will be responsible for the integration of technological bricks on robotic platforms developed in the context of Factolab. It will incorporate software building blocks of perception and control for the manipulation of deformable objects. He will participate in the maintenance and implementation of prototypes and demonstrators robotic. He will coordinate the experimental developments in connection with our industrial partner Michelin.

This position is part of the Factolab Cobot project (joint laboratory between Michelin, CNRS, UCA and Sigma-Clermont). In this context we aim to develop an innovative robotic system for handling deformable materials in the context of industrial tire production processes. The robotic system will have three main components: an active perception system (perception of the product and the human operator), a multi-sensor control and planning platform (shape control of objects and contacts, generalization of AI-based tasks) and dextral grippers (integrating sensors - mainly tactile - to accurately identify the state of contact between the product and the gripper) capable of handling flexible components with high levels of robustness and reliability.
The proposed solution will allow human-robot operator collaboration to execute complex tasks. Particular attention will be paid to the development of new robotics concepts ensuring the safety of the operators, the ergonomics of the workstations, the adaptability to different tasks, as well as the integration of the user experience. In order to facilitate performance evaluation, transferability and large scale deployment of the solutions, the demonstrations will be conducted in industrial environments in the tire sector.
The successful candidate will integrate the Pascal Institute (UMR 6602) and more specifically the ISPR research axis (Image, Perception and Robotics Systems). He will work in close collaboration with our Michelin Group partners in the context of Factolab.
