Job Description

Missions

Develop numerical models capable of reproducing laboratory experiments of tsunamis generated by granular flows and collapses in a channel.

Activity

- Setting up experiments involving tsunamis generated by granular flow/collapse in a channel.
- Analyzing images obtained with high-frequency cameras to characterize flow and wave parameters.
- Numerical modeling of laboratory experiments.

Your Profil

Skills

- Physics (fluid dynamics).
- Image processing (high-speed cameras).
- Nulerical modelljng / Computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
- Teamwork.
- Writing scientific articles in English.

Your Work Environment

This work is part of and funded by the ANR Slide2Wave program, coordinated by Philippe Gondret (FAST, University of Saclay). The postdoctoral researcher will be supervised by Raphaël Paris (CNRS-LMV) and Olivier Roche (IRD-LMV). The postdoctoral researcher will be based at the Magmas and Volcanoes Laboratory UMR 6524, Clermont-Auvergne University. Collaboration with the IMFT (Institute of Fluid Mechanics, Toulouse) for the numerical modelling.
