Initially, the objective is to improve the processing of astrophysical data to validate the software and the scientific objectives of the DEEPSEE project. Performance on oceanographic data must also be demonstrated rapidly.
The development of the SRoll4 tool is at the heart of the mission. The objective is an integration of an AI type tool (Tensorflow) in a parallel code (MPI). Beyond the integration, validation and tests on existing data sets; this mission includes a strong participation in the definition of the architecture of SRoll4 to give it the flexibility necessary for the use of different types of data.
•Analyze needs and constraints and participate in the realization of Sroll4's evolutions.
Monitor data production and validate its quality.
•To be a driving force behind proposals and participate in the definition of the SRoll4 software architecture.
•Develop, test and validate the SRoll4 software.
•Organize and monitor the application packaging activities intended to be deployed on one or more computer centers.
•Expertise in software development methods: configuration management, testing, validation, deployment.
•Expertise in C and Python programming languages.
•Knowledge in HPC environment: MPI parallelization, scheduler.
•Tensorflow practice will be a plus.
•Knowledge in signal processing will be a plus.
•Knowledge of one of the scientific fields (astrophysics or oceanography) will be a plus.
The scientific environment of this project is common to cosmology and oceanography, as similarities in inversion methods exist between sky and ocean data. The use of the SRoll4 software must therefore be transposable between these two fields as simply as possible. The DEEPSEE team is also transverse. Locally, the candidate will complete a two-person team at LOPS but will also work alongside researchers and engineers specialized in astrophysics
