Job Description

Missions

The ONCOPIT project aims to develop innovative injectable zeolite-based biomaterials for the local treatment of glioblastoma by combining biomaterials engineering, cancer immunotherapy and regenerative medicine. The project seeks to understand how engineered biomaterials interact with the tumour microenvironment to induce anti-tumour immune responses while simultaneously promoting neural tissue repair and neuroregeneration following tumour treatment.
The successful candidate will work in a multidisciplinary team at the interface of biomaterials, cancer biology, immunology and regenerative medicine.

Activity

The successful candidate will:
• Evaluate the biological performance of injectable zeolite-based biomaterials using relevant glioblastoma models.
• Investigate protein corona formation, its composition and evolution under physiological conditions, and its influence on the biological identity of engineered biomaterials.
• Study biomaterial–cell interactions, including cellular uptake, intracellular trafficking and intracellular localization.
• Evaluate the influence of protein corona formation on cellular uptake, therapeutic efficacy and tumour microenvironment modulation.
• Investigate the mechanisms of immunogenic cell death (ICD) following biomaterial-mediated phototherapy.
• Evaluate cytocompatibility, phototoxicity and therapeutic efficacy using two-dimensional and three-dimensional glioblastoma models.
• Develop and perform in vivo studies to assess biomaterial injectability, biodistribution, biological performance and therapeutic efficacy.
• Contribute to the biological evaluation of tissue repair and neuroregeneration in collaboration with experts in neuroregenerative medicine.
• Perform flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, immunofluorescence, histology and immunohistochemistry analyses.
• Collaborate closely with the materials science postdoctoral researcher and the PhD student to optimize biomaterial design based on biological feedback.
• Prepare scientific publications and present research findings at national and international conferences.

Your Profil

Skills

Applicants should have strong hands-on experience in several of the following areas:
• Biological evaluation of biomaterials
• Protein corona analysis and nano–bio interactions
• Biomaterial–cell interactions
• Mammalian cell culture
• Glioblastoma biology
• Immunogenic cell death (ICD)
• Cellular uptake and intracellular trafficking
• Cytotoxicity and phototoxicity assays
• Flow cytometry
• Confocal and fluorescence microscopy
• Immunofluorescence and immunohistochemistry
• Histopathological analysis
• Small-animal experimentation
• In vitro and/or in vivo evaluation of biomaterials
Experience with glioblastoma models, protein corona characterization, phototherapy, or biomaterial-based cancer therapy will be considered a strong advantage. Previous experience in neuroregeneration is desirable but not mandatory, as this aspect of the project will be carried out in close collaboration with experts in regenerative medicine and neuroscience.

Your Work Environment

This project is being carried out at the Catalysis & Spectrochemistry Laboratory in Caen, Normandy. The successful candidate will be supervised by Professor Hajar Maleki.
The successful candidate will be based at the LCS and will work closely with the Imaging and Therapeutic Strategies for Cancers and Brain Tissues (ISTCT) – Cyceron in Caen.
