Job Description

Missions

The candidate will be recruited within the framework of the VINCI project (Label of Excellence - 00180410, Normandy Region) which aims to develop a new perspective on interfacial interactions for a tailored performance of porous materials. This project aims to apply and combine advanced spectroscopic approaches to understand both the formation mechanisms and the properties of zeolites at the atomic level, under real conditions, in order to improve their efficiency in emerging chemical processes related to the energy transition. Combined approaches of advanced characterization will serve in the design of porous materials while providing a better understanding of their performance under real conditions.
The selected candidate will be responsible for methodological developments to understand the properties of nanoporous materials through advanced spectroscopic characterization. The localization of active sites via the adsorption of probe molecules and/or the application of spectroscopic methodologies will be the subject of in-situ spectroscopic characterization under real conditions, among other techniques.

Activity

Development of advanced spectroscopic characterization methodologies (IR, Raman, UV, NMR).
- Synthesis, modification, and physicochemical characterization (XRD, TGA, SEM) of nanoporous materials (zeolites and zeotypes) or other oxydes.
- Evaluation of the properties and performance of zeolites (adsorption, catalysis, separation).

Your Profil

Skills

- PhD in chemistry, physical chemistry, chemical engineering, or materials science.
- Experience in spectroscopic characterization of materials (IR, Raman, UV, NMR).
- Fluency in spoken and written English

Your Work Environment

This project will be developed at the LCS - Catalysis & Spectrochemistry Laboratory located in Caen, Normandy. The candidate will be supervised by Dr. Eddy Dib, Senior Researcher at CNRS. The LCS has built its reputation on the preparation of porous materials, zeolites, operando spectroscopy, and catalysis. By combining its well-developed expertise in synthesis, infrared spectroscopy, as well as NMR and Raman spectroscopy, it occupies a unique position and conducts high-level, competitive research in the field of nanoporous materials. The candidate will be affiliated with UMR 6506.
