Missions

As part of the Franco-German High Power Batteries (HIPOBAT, PEPR Batteries) project, the postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for the synthesis of different types of negative electrode materials (oxides, phosphates, etc.) for all-solid-state power batteries. He/She will also be responsible for characterizing the materials synthesized in the laboratory or by the project partners using chemical, structural and microstructural characterization tools. A significant part of the mission will be dedicated to the synthesis of innovative materials that will then be shaped (electrodes). The synthesized and shaped materials will be characterized by different electrochemical techniques, possibly coupled with other analytical techniques to carry out in-situ or operando observations. Particular attention will be paid to the power performance and cyclability of the prepared electrodes, with regard to the objectives of the HIPOBAT project.

Activités

Main tasks:
- Synthesis of materials such as oxides, phosphates, etc.
- Chemical, structural, and microstructural characterizations
- Electrochemical characterizations
- Implementation of operando/in-situ characterizations for the study of electrode/electrolyte couplings
Additional activities:
- Supervision of interns working on part of the project
- Writing reports and presenting work at monthly meetings
- Writing scientific articles and/or patents

Compétences

- The candidate must have a PhD in materials chemistry and significant experience in electrochemical characterization of electrodes for energy storage systems.
- Motivation, creativity, autonomy, rigor, and teamwork.
- Spoken and written English

Contexte de travail

The project is part of the new PEPR Batteries project and more specifically the Hybrid All-Solid Power Batteries project supported by the ANR (French National Research Agency). The HIPOBAT project brings together 6 French and 6 German laboratories aiming to design innovative high-power all-solid-state batteries. The post-doc will be located in the ST2E team of the Jean Rouxel Materials Institute of Nantes (IMN), UMR CNRS 6502, CNRS/Nantes University, under the supervision of Prof. Thierry Brousse. The host team has extensive expertise in the field of battery and pseudo-capacitive materials acquired over the last 20 years through industrial partnerships and international collaborations.

Le poste se situe dans un secteur relevant de la protection du potentiel scientifique et technique (PPST), et nécessite donc, conformément à la réglementation, que votre arrivée soit autorisée par l'autorité compétente du MESR.

Contraintes et risques

Typical risks associated with a research project in the field of materials science and chemistry.
Travel: As this is a collaborative project, short stays in the partners' laboratories will be required. Travel of a few days for meetings and conferences (possibly abroad) is also expected.
