Missions

As part of an ANR project, the candidate will be responsible for synthesizing photoluminescent copper complexes for the development of original photoactive organic-inorganic hybrid materials. In order to obtain these complexes, a wide variety of organic ligands will be synthesized with different functional groups. The complexes will be structurally and optically characterized using various characterization techniques such as X-ray diffraction, vibrational and optical spectroscopies, all accessible through the PLASSMAT instrumental platform of IMN. Particular attention will be paid to establish structure-property relationships in order to rationalize the optical properties observed. The copper complexes will then be integrated into organic or inorganic polymeric matrices to produce materials with the targeted mechanical properties.

Activités

Research activities:
- Organic synthesis and characterization of functional organic ligands.
- Complex synthesis and structural and optical characterizations.
- Writing reports and presenting work at monthly meetings.
- Writing of scientific articles and/or patents.

Compétences

- The candidate must have a PhD in the field of organic chemistry for materials synthesis. He/she should have between 5 and 7 years of post-doctoral experience.
- Very good skills in organic synthesis are expected, and knowledge of optical characterization would be highly appreciated.
- Motivation, creativity, autonomy, rigor, teamwork.
- Spoken and written English.

Contexte de travail

The project is part of an ANR project involving a consortium of three French research teams. The aim of the project is to develop new hybrid materials whose optical properties are modified under the effect of different external stimuli.
The host laboratory is the Institut des Matériaux de Nantes (IMN, UMR 6502, http://www.cnrs-imn.fr). IMN is a joint CNRS - Nantes University research unit, with over 200 staff. The candidate will join IMN's MIOPS team, under the supervision of Sandrine Perruchas. This team has renowned expertise in the field of hybrid materials exhibiting optical properties.
The position is in a sector covered by the protection of scientific and technical potential, and therefore requires, in accordance with regulations, that this recruitment be authorized by the competent MESR authority.

Le poste se situe dans un secteur relevant de la protection du potentiel scientifique et technique (PPST), et nécessite donc, conformément à la réglementation, que votre arrivée soit autorisée par l'autorité compétente du MESR.

Contraintes et risques

Standard risks associated with a research project in the field of materials chemistry.
Travel: as part of this collaborative project, short stays in partner laboratories are planned at national level. Travel for a few days to conferences (possibly abroad) may also be envisaged.
