The candidate will contribute to developing the model of jet evolution within the quark and gluon plasma and will carry out the IT integration within EPOS in coordination with the researchers involved. The candidate will contribute to the production of the results as well as their analysis and any resulting adaptations of the model.


The candidate will have for activity:
- reading and understanding of theoretical physics articles, in particular with a view to deducing equivalent computer algorithms
- develop a Monte Carlo-type code in the field of nuclear and particle physics
- carry out a software integration within a C ++ / Fortran code by mastering the aspects of software quality
- test and validate a code, by comparison with theoretical reference models
- analyze results from a simulation code
- The candidate will participate in conferences, writing articles, making posters


The candidate must hold a Doctorate in - hadronic physics or particle physics (theoretical and phenomenological approaches). The skills expected of the candidate are:
- numerical methods and programming (C ++) and implementation of unit and global code validation tests
- reliability and ability to document its methods
- adaptability
- good written and oral communication

Work Context

Over the past 10 years, the Nantes theory team has, in collaboration with several international collaborators, developed an event generator to simulate collisions of ultrarelativistic particles (proton-proton, proton-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus), referred to as EPOS. This model is able to reproduce a large number of experimental observables measured at the RHIC and LHC colliders and has acquired high visibility. in the community. More recently, our team began to develop a model (including in its computer version) which describes the evolution of the jets produced at the first moment of the collision in the hot medium (plasma of quarks and gluons) formed during this same collision. It is now necessary to integrate this model within EPOS, in particular to be able to calibrate it, produce the results of the global simulation and compare them with the experimental data.

The candidate's work will mainly be carried out within the theory team (Prof Aichelin, Gossiaux and Werner), but also in collaboration with the "digital modeling and software development" pole.
