Job Description

Missions

Benchmarking of microfluidics designs to enhance biosensing at the surface of glass by fluorescence microscopy

Activity

The main objective of the short contract is to fabricate and test microfluidic modules with internal stirring structures and compare their experimental performance in terms of binding kinetics of a model biological interaction. The experiments will be performed on a fluorescence microscopy setup combined with microfluidics. Molecular binding experiments are performed at the surface of glass with a flow of fluorescent micro or nano-particles (targets). Qualitative and quantitative estimations can be obtained by analyzing the images and particles-counting.
The microfluidics modules will be fabricated either by PDMS molding from a master mold, which can be prepared by optical lithography (maskless) of SU8 resist, or directly in SU8 resist. Additional 3D stirring microstructure may be added inside the microchannels by 3D microlithography. Surface chemical functionalization protocols will have to be applied to prepare the surfaces for the binding experiments.

Your Profil

Skills

The ideal candidate should have experience in fluorescence microscopy and in microfabrication techniques, including microfluidics prototyping. Knowledge of biosensing, biochemistry and surface chemical functionalization techniques is also required.
Requirements include a Ph.D. in Physics or a related discipline. Applicants should provide a CV, a cover letter including a statement of research interests, and the contact details of two references.
Un doctorat en physique ou dans une discipline apparentée est demandé. Les candidats devront fournir un CV, une lettre de motivation comprenant une description de leur domaine d'intérêt en recherche, et les coordonnées de deux références.

Your Work Environment

The candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Ing. L. Markey and Dr. A. Leray, and will use the ARCEN-CARNOT platform of ICB.
