Job Description
Missions
The postdoctoral researcher will work at the Interdisciplinary Carnot de Bourgogne Laboratory (ICB). The project focuses on the design and development of materials involved in nonlinear optical effects occurring in optical fibers.
Activity
The current challenge is to optimize SC generation in hybrid glass–polymer structures. Using materials synthesized within the team, one of the main tasks will be their processing into optical components (fiber drawing, polishing, etc.). The next step will involve characterizing their linear optical properties, including optical losses, refractive index measurements as a function of wavelength, and other optical characterizations. The nonlinear optical properties will then be investigated through supercontinuum generation using pulsed laser excitation. The work will involve identifying the optimal pump wavelength(s) and studying key SC characteristics such as spectral bandwidth and stability.

Skills
PhD in Physics or Materials Science
Strong background in the processing, fabrication, and characterization of glass and polymer materials
Hands-on experience with experimental optical techniques
Proficiency in written and spoken English
Ability to work independently
Your Work Environment
This project will be carried out at the Interdisciplinary Carnot de Bourgogne Laboratory (ICB, UMR 6303 CNRS–University of Burgundy) in Dijon, within the SAFIR (Solitons, Lasers, Fibers and InfraRed Photonics) research group (https://icb.u-bourgogne.fr/safir/). It is funded through the French National Research Agency (ANR) Young Researchers (JCJC) project EVO-FIBIR. The successful candidate will join the SAFIR subgroup dedicated to the development of novel infrared materials and specialty optical fibers. This group consists of four faculty members (University of Burgundy), two research engineers (University of Burgundy and CNRS), and four PhD students. The project will provide access to a wide range of state-of-the-art experimental techniques, enabling the researcher to develop expertise in materials science, optical fiber design and fabrication, nonlinear waveguides, infrared optics, numerical modeling, and the fundamental physics of nonlinear systems.
