Job Description
Missions
The tasks of the position are as follows:
1) Development, characterization, and optimization of various optical devices on chalcogenide materials for frequency conversion in the mid-infrared (2-20 µm) as well as for the detection of molecules by evanescent waves.
2) Improvement of the packaging and integration of optical devices, as well as spectral extension of the detection chain beyond 20 µm.
3) Supervision of several doctoral students and/or interns on this research work.
4) Monitoring of the femtosecond laser chains and infrared detection chains used in this research work.
Activity
The activities associated with this position form part of the international effort to develop new laser sources and optical sensors dedicated to the mid-infrared. This work is funded by several ongoing ANR projects within the research team.
This position may be renewed once for an additional period of between 18 and 24 months.
The main activities include: (i) the experimental implementation and characterisation (spectral, spatial and intensity noise) of frequency conversion devices using chalcogenide components/materials (crystals, bulk glasses and fibres); (ii) the experimental implementation and characterisation of infrared fibre optic biosensors; (iii) interfacing characterisation devices and exploiting experimental data; and (iv) writing reports and scientific articles.
This work will be carried out in close collaboration with researchers from the Institute of Molecular Sciences in Bordeaux and the Institute of Chemical Sciences in Rennes.
