Missions

Within the framework of the ANR BIOSENS-PATH, we are looking for a research engineer at the level of
L3 Chemistry (holder of a Bachelor's degree) or Master's degree M1 or M2 to work in the Polyamines, Porphyrins,
Development and Applications (P2DA) team in the organic synthesis of corrole and porphyrin macrocycles. The
candidate should have good skills in organic chemistry, both theoretical and practical, and will use the different
spectroscopic techniques available in the laboratory (1H NMR, and heteronuclear, infrared, UV-visible, MALDI/TOF
mass spectrometry, ESI...).

Activities

- Synthesize and characterize macrocyclic derivatives (porphyrin and corrole type), building blocks for the
preparation of porous molecular materials e.g. MOF (Metal-Organic Frameworks) and COF (Covalent Organic
Framework) type
- To carry out bibliographical research
- Synthesis of the targeted products
- Validation of scale-up protocols (gram scale)
- Supervise student trainees working on the above mentioned topics
- Write reports and experimental protocols in English, contribute to the writing of publications
- Apply and enforce health and safety rules

Skills

• Knowledge:
- Organic chemistry, coordination chemistry
- Purification, characterization and analysis techniques of organic compounds: chromatography,
spectroscopic methods (NMR, UV, IR, mass spectrometry...)
- Health and safety regulations
- Scientific English
• Know-How:
- Implement operating protocols for the synthesis of organic compounds, including under an inert
atmosphere, and for separation and purification, particularly by chromatography
- Master the main techniques of molecular characterization and the recording and exploitation of 1H and
13C NMR, mass (MALDI/TOF, ESI), UV-Vis, IR spectra,...
- To work in a team, to plan experiments carried out by technical staff (technicians) and/or PhD students
in the framework of the current ANR project
- Use specific computer tools, for example for bibliographic research, formatting bibliographic references,
drawing molecules…
- Write reports and protocols
- Apply and enforce health and safety rules related to the handling of chemicals

Work Context

The recruited person will carry out his missions within the Institute of Molecular Chemistry of the University of
Burgundy (ICMUB, UMR CNRS 6302, ZRR zone), team Polyamines, Porphyrins, Developments and Applications
(P2DA). His missions will be part of the ANR BIOSENS-Path project, which is oriented towards a non-invasive
detection of the NH3 biomarker in the exhaled air of patients, for an early detection of renal pathologies. In this
project, we will focus on the synthesis and spectroscopic characterization (NMR, MS, IR, UV-vis, DRX...) of corroles
and porphyrins, precursors of molecular materials. These macrocyclic compounds (metallocorroles...) will then be
used to prepare porous materials of MOFs and COFs type in order to develop later a sensor of biomarkers (NH3 in
particular) based on the Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) technology, and this within the framework of a collaboration
with a team of Besançon (Institut Femto-ST).
The recruited engineer will bring his expertise in organic synthesis and spectroscopic characterizatations.
The missions and responsibilities related to this position will lead the agent to be in direct interaction with the
researchers and teacher-researchers of the P2DA team, the research support, administrative and technical staff,
as well as non-permanent staff (PhD students, post-doc trainees, CDD...)
