The researcher will formulate the problem of the thermo-hydrodynamic convection in a ferrofluid confined in a cylindrical annulus subject to a raidal temperature gradient and magnetic field. He or she will then use a linear stability inhouse-code developed to determine the critical modes and to perform an energetic analysis of the intervening forces. The researcher will write the results in form of articles preprints to submit to appropriate scientific reviews of Physics or of Thermal Science.
The reserarcher will perform the following tasks :
-conduct a review of existing works on ferrohydrodynamics and heat transfer in ferrofluids
-determine the best magnetic field configuration appropriate to the annular cylindrical geometry depending on the already published works on the topics
-write down the linear stability equations in form of eigenvalue problem
-determine the eigenvalues, the dispersion relation of the marginal modes and the critical modes
-perform the energy analysis of the problem
- write the results in form of article preprints
The researcher must have theoretical skills in Electromagnetism and Hydrodynamics and good skills in numerical simulations. He or she will work in research team and be able to supervise internship of Master student on the topics. He or she must have a good level in spoken and written English.
LOMC is a research unit of about 100 people (40 professors and researchers), 10 technical and administrative people, 10 post-doctorat researchers and about 40 PH.D. students. The laboratoire hosts about 20 internship Master students and about 10 invited researchers. It consists of three teams on Acoustics, Geoenvironment, Hydrodynamics and Energy Transfer)/ The hired researcher will work the last team in the group "IIT (Instabilities and Transition to Turbulence)".He or she will have access to all needed numerical tools including access to CRIANN resources for heavy computations which require large memory.
