A post-doctoral position is available in the Genome Duplication and Maintenance group of Dr. Pei-Yun Jenny Wu at the Institute of Genetics and Development of Rennes (IGDR) in Brittany, France. Our laboratory uses the fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe to investigate the control of genome duplication and the maintenance of genome integrity (for additional information, see www.gdmlab.org). We are seeking candidates to conduct a project that explores the interplay between DNA replication, epigenetic modifications, and cellular physiology.
For this project, we have developed unique models in the powerful fission yeast system. Our work will take a multidisciplinary approach, combining state-of-the-art methods in genomics, live-cell fluorescence microscopy, bioinformatics, and experimental evolution.
The selected candidate will receive assistance for applying to additional post-doctoral funding.
Candidates must have a solid background in molecular biology and genetics, and those with experience in using yeast as a model system are encouraged to apply. Applicants should have experience in standard methods in molecular biology, cell biology, and biochemistry.
The IGDR is the primary center for fundamental biological research in Rennes and in the Brittany region (igdr.univ-rennes1.fr/english/). Research at the institute covers a wide variety of subjects, including the regulation of gene expression, epigenetics, cell cycle control, and development. With 21 teams and approximately 200 members, the IGDR provides a dynamic and interactive scientific environment. The working language of the laboratory and the institute is English
The vibrant city of Rennes is the capital of the region of Brittany, located in northwestern France. With its high quality of life, rich tradition in arts and culture, dynamic student population, and easy access to Paris (1 h 20 min by train), Rennes is consistently considered one of the cities in France where it is the most pleasant to live.
Candidates should submit applications through the CNRS recruitment portal. They should also contact Dr. Pei-Yun Jenny Wu (email@example.com) and send the following documents: 1) a curriculum vitae, including past research experiences and 2) a letter describing your interest in our research. Recommendation letters should be sent directly from at least two references to the above address.
