Missions
Cancer remains a global health crisis, responsible for approximately 10 million deaths annually. Conventional treatments like chemotherapy and radiotherapy have limitations, driving the search for new approaches such as immunotherapy, which boosts the immune system to target tumor cells. A highly motivated candidate is sought for a postdoctoral position to join our cutting-edge research team focused on using advanced biomaterials for cancer immunotherapy. This project aims to harness the potential of biomaterials to improve the delivery and efficacy of T cells in solid tumors, significantly impacting human health and expediting clinical translation.
Activités
Key responsibilities include evaluating and optimizing CAR T-cell viability and function within biomaterials. The in-vitro studies involve functionalizing biomaterials with specific antibodies, controlling the release of immunostimulatory factors, and evaluating the potential of these biomaterials to enhance T-cell viability and function in solid tumors. For animal studies, the role involves conducting preclinical evaluations in cancer models and exploring potential synergistic effects with other therapies. The candidate will join an interdisciplinary group that incorporates expertise in polymer chemistry, design of hydrogel systems, nanotechnology, microfabrication, tissue engineering, drug delivery, and immunotherapy.
Compétences
Qualifications require a Ph.D. in immunology, immunoengineering, Immuno-oncology, cancer immunotherapy, or related fields, with expertise in DC/T cell culture and a range of molecular and cell biology techniques including qRT-PCR, western blot, ELISA, and flow cytometry. Familiarity with biomaterials is beneficial, with opportunities for further training. Proficiency in isolating, culturing, manipulating, and characterizing primary human DC/T cells, and conducting immune cell-based assays is essential. Experience with rodent models for immunotherapy testing is necessary, while prior research and publications in cancer immunotherapy or biology are highly valued. Strong communication skills, collaborative abilities, self-motivation, and the capability to mentor students in a multidisciplinary setting are also key, along with a solid publication record in leading journals and the ability to integrate research into broader programs.
Contexte de travail
The postdoctoral researcher will be employed by the CNRS, the largest fundamental research agency in Europe, and will carry out their work under the supervision of Dr. Sidi A. Bencherif within the Polymers, Biopolymers, Surfaces Laboratory (PBS) (UMR CNRS 6270), located at the University of Rouen Normandy. PBS, a joint research unit between the CNRS and the National Institute of Applied Sciences (INSA) Rouen Normandy, is affiliated with the Doctoral School of Chemistry and a regional research center. The laboratory develops innovative polymers through macromolecular chemistry, employing physical, physicochemical, and biological approaches, and evaluates their functions in various environments, including biological systems. The project will be conducted in close collaboration with the Inserm Unit U1234, located at the UFR Santé site, and the postdoctoral researcher will occasionally work at its facilities. The PBS laboratory consists of 46 permanent members, including 11 professors, 17 associate professors, 2 CNRS researchers, 7 ITA staff (Engineers, Technicians, and Administrative personnel), and 9 BIATSS staff (Library, Engineering, Administrative, Technical, Service, and Health personnel), all supporting research activities or fulfilling various roles in library services, administration, and technical operations. PBS researchers have diverse expertise spanning chemistry, biology, and materials science, with research areas including antimicrobial biomaterials, brain tissue reconstruction, and 3D bioprinted constructs for skin tissue engineering.
Collaboration with the Rouen University Hospital Center, as well as with international partners (for example, in the United States and Europe), will help advance our research and facilitate its translation into clinical trials.
Le poste se situe dans un secteur relevant de la protection du potentiel scientifique et technique (PPST), et nécessite donc, conformément à la réglementation, que votre arrivée soit autorisée par l'autorité compétente du MESR.
