Missions

In the framework of the PEPR FairCarboN project Deep-C, we offer a 18-month postdoctoral position aimed at identifying the key processes that determine the fate of OC once in standing freshwater ecosystems.

This project aims to accurately quantify the role of standing freshwater ecosystems in the global carbon cycle, including small water bodies for which such knowledge is lacking, and how it is being altered by environmental change.

Activités

- Analysis of data already collected each month for one year at four initial pilot sites, covering natural and artificial water bodies (characterization of organic matter, production of GES from the sediment, concentration in the water column and emission in the atmosphere, incorporation in the food web through the analysis of stable isotope data as well as environmental data)
- Coordinate and participate in field and laboratory data collection at a larger number of pilot sites
- Participate in the review of existing data from scientific literature and international/national partnerships
- Communication of results (scientific papers and oral presentations) and participation in workshops/seminars embedded in the FairCarbon program.

Compétences

- PhD in a field related to the research subject (environmental science, biogeochemistry, ecology etc.). Good English skills, both in written and spoken language
- Strong background in the study of processes involved in C cycling in aquatic ecosystems, Experience in coding (e.g. R, Python)
- Enjoy working in the field and as part of a team. Accept to travel for several days during fieldwork period

Contexte de travail

- Full time position, field sampling
- Computer workstation, office, field vehicles, analytical resources.
