Missions
As part of a research project at the interface of chemistry and biology in the field of virology, the research assistant will work in the context of a national and academic collaborative project to synthesize new enzyme inhibitors as nucleoside structures that will be evaluated as new antivirals by our collaborators from the consortium VIROCRIB. The research assistant's tasks involve implementing and leading organic molecule synthesis methods as part of this national program. Appropriate synthesis and purification techniques will be implemented for the various synthesis procedures. The research assistant will have to report on the results of the syntheses carried out, and ensure regular transmission of results by writing technical reports. He/she will also carry out bibliographical research in the field to update his/her knowledge, propose efficient synthesis protocols and ensure a scientific and technological watch. (Initial contract of 12 months, renewable).
Activities
The research assistant will be responsible for researching, designing and developing new chemical synthesis techniques adapted to the aims of the project under study. He/she may also participate in the elaboration and management of the research project by proposing synthesis strategies to be implemented. He/she may advise on and take part in the laboratory's technical activities (joint tasks, experiments, traceability of manipulations and samples). He/she will occasionally be involved in bibliographical research and regularly in report writing
Skills
Holder of a BTS, DUT in organic synthesis or a professional Licence. Applications from recent Master's graduates will also be considered. General, theoretical or disciplinary knowledge: - Good knowledge of the main techniques for synthesizing, purifying and characterizing molecules. - Operational skills: - Ability to implement organic synthesis protocols (batch synthesis from a few mg to a few grams). - Ability to use specific synthesis and purification equipment (ozone generator, rotary kiln, Puriflash, etc.) - Ability to use standard analytical equipment and interpret analytical data (NMR, IR, MS, UV, etc.) - Ability to use expert software for bibliography and analytical data processing (NMR, IR, MS, UV, etc.) - Ability to interpret analytical data - In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations and good laboratory practice.) Personal skills : - Ability to organize work and react quickly - Good interpersonal skills - Ability to interact with colleagues - Rigorous and methodical - Ability to take initiative while remaining accountable - Ability to meet deadlines - Ability to respect confidentiality obligations.
Work Context
The Research Assistant will report to the Unit Director and work in collaboration with researchers in the research unit. The Research Assistant will interact closely with the various agents present in the laboratory, whether in the field of analysis or synthesis.
