Your Work Environment
The Institut des Sciences Chimiques de Rennes (ISCR – UMR 6226) is a joint research unit involving CNRS, the University of Rennes, the École Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Rennes (ENSCR), and the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Rennes (INSA). Established in 2006, ISCR resulted from the successive mergers of all academic chemistry research teams in Rennes. It brings together over 280 permanent staff, including approximately 140 faculty researchers, 60 CNRS researchers, and 80 engineers and technicians, across the Rennes Beaulieu, Rennes Villejean, and IUT Lannion campuses, with a total workforce exceeding 500 people.
Organized into eight teams of varying sizes, ISCR effectively combines the scientific advantages of a broad disciplinary scope with tailored management for each group. Rennes chemistry is renowned for its expertise in designing and synthesizing custom molecules, crystals, and materials with specific functions or properties, leveraging a wide range of molecular and materials engineering tools. Its core areas of focus include:
Molecular chemistry (organic, organometallic, and coordination chemistry), Materials derived from solid-state chemistry and metallurgy, Catalysis, electrochemistry, theoretical chemistry, and Chemical process engineering.
