Missions

A full-time postdoctoral research associate position is available in the group of Theoretical Inorganic Chemistry at the Institut des Sciences Chimiques de Rennes (ISCR) under the supervision of Mikaël Kepenekian. The position is funded through the EMERGENCE@INC 2020 project 'Exploration of Low-Dimension Organic-Radical-framework-based Devices for Optoelectronics and Spintronics' (ELDORaDOS) for a period of 12 months. The project aims at the computational design of free-standing and supported low-dimensional metal and covalent organic frameworks based on organic radicals for applications in optoelectronics and spintronics. The first part of the project consists in defining the meaningful ingredients that will constitute the design principles for radical-based frameworks.

Skills

A PhD Degree in Chemistry, Materials Sciences, Physics or related disciplines is required. We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in theoretical solid-state physics and/or chemistry. Complementary skills in computational material science, such as codes based on density functional theory, simulation code development and/or expertise using MATLAB are desirable. The candidate shall be able to demonstrate his/her expertise in the above-mentioned fields through publications in high impact factor journals. A good command of English, both spoken and written, is mandatory. Autonomy and communication skills are also expected to participate in our project and benefit from the existing rewarding working atmosphere.

Work Context

Institut des Sciences Chimiques de Rennes (ISCR) gathers more than 200 researchers working for CNRS, Université de Rennes 1, École Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Rennes and INSA de Rennes.
It develops research programs around on three main topics: Molecules and materials for health issues / Ecomaterials and ecoprocesses / Materials and energy conversions.
