Job Description
Missions
The post-doctoral fellow (M/F) develops, shapes and characterizes infrared glasses and optical fibers within the framework of the PEPR- Batteries (Priority Research Program and Equipment) / Sensiga project. This project aims to develop methods for the internal instrumentation of electrochemical cells using optical fiber-based sensors.
Activity
Synthesize infrared glasses by different methods (melting/tempering – 3D printing) - Characterize infrared glasses (spectroscopy, thermal analysis, optical and electron microscopy) - Manufacture and characterize infrared optical fibers (single-index, double-index, microstructured) - Develop infrared fiber optic sensors for evanescent wave spectroscopy - Experiment with sensors in electrochemical cells and batteries - Write development and characterization reports - Write publications, present results at national and international congresses - Interact with collaborators external to the team

Knowledge: theoretical knowledge - In-depth knowledge of materials science - In-depth knowledge of materials development techniques in a controlled atmosphere - In-depth knowledge of materials characterization techniques (IR spectroscopy, Thermal analysis, SEM) - In-depth knowledge of the state of the art in the field of research - Fluency in English read, written, spoken Know-how: knowledge generally derived from experience - Familiarity with one or more techniques for the development of inorganic materials. - Apply forming techniques according to the materials. - Implement appropriate characterization techniques. - Write test and analysis reports - Write publications - Present the results at congresses Interpersonal skills: set of attitudes and behaviors expected in a given situation - Rigour/reliability - Organizational skills - Ability to listen and dialogue
Your Work Environment
The post-doctoral fellow performs his/her duties under the responsibility of the head of the glass and ceramics team, located on the Beaulieu campus in Rennes. The team is composed of 33 permanent staff and 25-30 PhD students/fixed-term contracts. It has a strong activity in the field of glasses and ceramics for diversified applications, including infrared photonics, very often in the context of research and development projects contracted with public/European organizations and industrialists.
