Missions

Contribution to the development of microcell-based optical clocks at FEMTO-ST. Contribution to the progress/improvement of microfabricated vapor cell technology and/or clock frequency metrological performances. Possible contribution to the supervision of Master and PhD students. Communication of results in high-impact scientific journals and international conferences.

Activities

Laser frequency stabilization onto atomic vapor cells. Atomic spectroscopy. Metrology of optical frequencies. MEMS vapor cell technologies

Skills

Physics, applied physics, engineering sciences, optics and/or MEMS technologies. Experience with atomic/quantum clocks, sensors and metrology is a strong plus-value. Electronics and instrumentation, for piloting of experiments (python prefered). Experience with CAD design/sumulation (mechanics/optics/thermics) is a plus-value.

Work Context

The candidate will integrate the “Microcell clocks” project-team at FEMTO-ST Institute, Besançon, France (www.femto-st.fr). This team involves members of the OHMS (https://teams.femto-st.fr//equipe-ohms/) [Time-Frequency Department] and MOSAIC groups (https://teams.femto-st.fr/MOSAIC/en) [Micro-Nano Sciences and Systems Department]. The candidate will benefit from the support of electronics/mechanics/computing services at FEMTO-ST, the time-frequency metrology platform Oscillator-IMP (http://oscillator-imp.com/dokuwiki/doku.php), and the MIMENTO microfabrication platform (https://www.femto-st.fr/en/Platforms/MIMENTO-Presentation).

The position is located in a sector under the protection of scientific and technical potential (PPST), and therefore requires, in accordance with the regulations, that your arrival is authorized by the competent authority of the MESR.
