Job Description

Missions

Develop a wireless, battery-free implantable interface for closed-loop neuromodulation.

The readout will be performed via radiofrequency backscattering, enabling real-time, minimally invasive brain monitoring in freely moving animals.

Activity

You will co-develop a new class of battery-free implantable devices, combining:

- Wireless communication using a backscatter-modulation architecture
- Co-design of front-end electronics and miniature RF antennas for chronic implantation
- Prototyping and characterization of the wireless link (power + sensing)
- Design and optimization of sensor-resonator coupling
- Participation in in vitro and ex vivo testing

Your Profil

Skills

We welcome motivated candidates with strong experience in the following areas:

- RF circuits / analog electronics
- Electromagnetism / antenna design
- Wireless sensing / bioelectronics
- Prior experience with implantable devices or organic electronics is a plus, but not mandatory

Your Work Environment

We are seeking highly motivated researchers to join our team at IETR, CNRS, Rennes, France.

Our research focuses on developing passive implantable biosensors that use backscattering to wirelessly transmit sensing data. The researcher will work in a stimulating and highly collaborative environment, alongside experts from an ERC-funded project in wireless bioelectronics.

Constraints and risks

This position falls under the Protection of Scientific and Technical Potential (PPST) sector. Therefore, in accordance with regulations, your appointment must be authorized by the competent authority of the Ministry of Higher Education and Research (MESR).
