Missions

We are recruiting a postdoctoral researcher as part of the SATELLITE project (# ANR-22-CE01-0028) funded by the ANR. This two-year project (01/04/26 to 31/03/28) aims to explore the link between the dynamics of rupture on seismic faults and the structure of the damage zone generated during earthquakes. The work will be based on the joint study of micromechanical damage models and their comparison with seismological and geodetic data published as part of this same ANR project.

Activités

Use of digital earthquake models; The code used for calculations is written in Fortran, and the tools for processing input and output data are written in MATLAB and Python. The postdoctoral researcher's work will consist of optimizing the codes that generate input data and process output data. • The postdoctoral researcher will carry out comparative work using data from geodesy and seismology for different tectonic contexts. • The postdoctoral researcher's work will be disseminated in the form of publications and conference presentations.

Compétences

At the time of appointment, the postdoctoral researcher must hold a PhD (or equivalent degree) in Earth sciences, with a specialization in geology and/or geophysics. The successful candidate must demonstrate proven skills in digital development (C++, Fortran, Matlab, Python, or equivalent) and be proficient in the Linux environment. Additional knowledge in numerical analysis, continuous integration, and graphical user interface programming is desirable. The candidate must also have proven experience in the study of the seismic cycle and in the use of geophysical data for this purpose.

Contexte de travail

Recruitment is taking place as part of the SATELLITE project (# ANR-22-CE01-0028) involving the CNRS, Grenoble Alpes University, the École Normale Supérieure de Paris, and Rennes University. The successful candidate will be based at Géosciences Rennes (UMR 6118), an internationally renowned laboratory that combines fieldwork, experimentation, and modeling to advance understanding of geological processes, continental surface dynamics, fracture-fluid interactions, and natural resources, with direct applications to societal issues such as natural hazards and climate change.
