Missions

The mission will consist in developing a data infrastructure to predict and study the metabolic capacities of macro-algae in cooperation with their symbionts. A particular attention will be paid to the brown alga Ascophyllum nodosum and its commercial extracts, one of the characteristics of which is its mutualistic association with the fungal endophyte "Mycophycias ascophylli" and other microbes constituting a holobiont. The aim of the project will be to predict with the best possible accuracy the metabolic capacities of the holobiont by combining the analysis of multi-omics data (genomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics) produced in the ANR Seabioz project and the knowledge present in the literature on related or distant species.

Activities

Reconstruction of metabolic networks for algal families and their microbiome: development of ad-hoc analysis pipelines based on the AuReMe/AuCoMe software suites developed by the Dyliss team.
- Integration of the results in a data warehouse allowing an interactive exploration of the results (Askomics software suite).
- implementation of Askomics software evolutions according to the needs.
- Analysis of host-microbiota interactions (bio-analysis).
- Development of specific methods for the determination of key molecules exchanged within the holobiont (adaptation of the metage2metabo package according to the needs).

Skills

Master's degree in computer science or bioinformatics.
- Programming (python): expert.
- Data analysis in biology.
- Knowledge engineering (sparql)
- Computing on clusters, virtualized environment (docker).

Work Context

The work will be carried out within the Dyliss team of IRISA, on the Beaulieu campus of the University of Rennes 1. It will be realized in the context of the ANR Seabioz project and will require a close collaboration with the researchers of the Roscoff biological station (regular videoconferences, or visits on site to be considered).
