Job Description
Missions
The candidate's mission will be to develop a new bioconjugation method for delivering proteins and peptides while enabling fluorescence tracking.
As part of a grant from the Normandy Region, an 18-month postdoctoral position is available to develop various bioconjugation probes.
This project requires proficiency in chemical synthesis, kinetic analysis, and fluorescence measurements in order to evaluate the various probes in vitro and in cellulo.
The successful candidate will join the bioorganic chemistry team at the CARMeN Institute, which consists of 14 researchers and faculty members working on all aspects of chemobiology, from probe design to cellular imaging.
Activity
- Research, design, and optimize chemical synthesis methods tailored to various probes
- Perform chemical syntheses, purifications, characterization, and evaluation of the probes.
- Participate in the development and execution of the research project
- Proactively and critically generate proposals to achieve the objective
- Maintain the lab notebook and prepare quarterly reports
Your Profil
Skills
The postdoctoral fellow (M/F) must have proven expertise in organic synthesis, be passionate about work at the interface of chemistry and biology for applications in chemobiology (solid experience in organic chemistry), and be able to adapt to the multidisciplinary nature of the project. The postdoctoral fellow (M/F) must be strongly committed to the development of the project and the technology.
The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. in organic chemistry with an interdisciplinary background in chemistry and biology. Skills in boronic/borinic acid chemistry are desirable, as is experience with fluorescence or kinetic measurements.
The successful candidate must be self-reliant, meticulous, and organized, with a very positive attitude toward working in a multidisciplinary “project team” while adhering to rules and procedures (traceability, GLP). He/she must be fluent in French and English (spoken and written).
Your Work Environment
CARMeN Institute (formerly COBRA) UMR 6064 is a joint research unit of the CNRS, the University of Rouen Normandy, INSA Rouen, the University of Caen Normandy, and ENSICAEN, with a staff of 300 researchers in analytical and organic chemistry. CARMeN's overall scientific objective is to develop innovative methods in organic synthesis, polymers, analytical chemistry, and molecular modeling, and to apply them to various subfields of the discipline (bioorganic chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, eco-responsible chemistry, materials chemistry) by drawing on a high-performing analytical research team. The position will be based at IRCOF on the University of Rouen campus in Mont Saint Aignan.
This position is funded as part of the Emergence Normandy regional project.
