Missions
This collaborative project between Lebel (Canada) and Besset (France) aims at developing novel strategies for the stereoselective synthesis of valuable enantioenriched organothiocyanates and hydroxylamines using modern tools (photocatalysis, flow chemistry, transition metal catalysis). Different strategies will be designed to provide innovative tools for the uncharted synthesis of sulfur-and nitrogen-containing molecules in an enantioselective manner. The results obtained in the project will considerably expand the chemical space of sulfur- and nitrogen-containing molecules and due to the interest in those compounds, the innovative solutions developed in the project are expected to have a significant impact in organic chemistry as well as chemical industry applications.
Activités
Development of original methodologies to overcome synthetic bottlenecks:
Experimental work
Analyses (NMR, HPLC, etc.)
Writing scientific reports and publications
Compétences
To support this research program, we are looking for an outstanding and highly motivated candidate to pursue their PhD within our groups (18 months in France and 18 months in Canada). The candidate will have a strong background in organic synthesis with excellent theoretical and experimental skills. We are looking for dedicated, curious, and hard worker candidates. Moreover, the candidate should have good communication skills, a good team spirit and will take benefit from an international research environment.
Contexte de travail
The PhD student will work in the "Fluorinated Biomolecule Synthesis" group (UMR 6064, CARMeN Institute, formerly 6014 COBRA-CNRS), led by Professor Philippe Jubault. Based in Rouen, the group consists of 7 researchers and research professors, as well as approximately 20 to 22 PhD students and postdoctoral researchers. The laboratory is located at IRCOF in Rouen (CNRS, University of Rouen, and INSA Rouen), France. The laboratory gathers around 60 CNRS researchers and faculty members.
The researcher will collaborate with Dr. Tatiana Besset (CNRS Researcher, University of Rouen) in France and Professor Hélène Lebel (University of Montréal) in Canada.
Le poste se situe dans un secteur relevant de la protection du potentiel scientifique et technique (PPST), et nécessite donc, conformément à la réglementation, que votre arrivée soit autorisée par l'autorité compétente du MESR.
Contraintes et risques
Work in organic chemistry in a fully equipped laboratory.
