Missions
The REASONS Chair aims to understand and analyse debates surrounding technologies and projects led in the name of energy transition. The purpose of this postdoctoral position is to study background developments in the debate surrounding energy transition from the perspective of the role played by energy production companies, particularly fossil fuel companies, and the accusations of greenwashing levelled against them. The objective is to understand how NGO campaigns, corporate strategy and public regulation interact, mainly through quantitative analysis (based on a qualitative understanding of the processes).
The work will combine quantitative and qualitative analysis to analyse, code and cross-reference databases of corporate promises and impacts on the one hand, and NGO campaigns on the other.
Activités
In collaboration with the project team, this will involve:
· Identifying international databases on corporate social and environmental responsibility policies and the emissions reductions achieved by companies. Providing a quantitative analysis of these databases.
· Analysing a database of NGO campaigns (sigwatch) to understand NGO campaigns and their rationale. Based on a typology of campaigns, analyse certain campaigns in detail (in particular through interviews with campaign leaders) and analyse the responses of companies.
· Analyse databases on global climate policies (country-based) to qualify and code these policies.
The objective will be to provide coding for the three types of databases and conduct cross-analyses.

• Codage de base de données
• Entretiens, analyses qualitatives
