Job Description

Missions

Actively contribute to research projects by developing and implementing experimental programs using animal models. In particular, the successful candidate will be responsible for studying the biodistribution of nanoparticles in various mouse models of cancer.

Activity

• Animal handling: Perform injections, administer treatments, and conduct sample collections.
• Health monitoring: Oversee animal health, diagnose potential issues, and provide necessary care. Ensure animal welfare, comfort, and ethical treatment.
• Assist and conduct non-invasive imaging protocols (MRI-PET and IVIS).
• Analyze experimental data and present results clearly and professionally.
• Ensure adherence to animal experimentation regulations and promote their application.
• Draft experiment reports, summaries, and protocols.
• Monitor and contribute to research projects in your field, collaborating with colleagues.
• Train and mentor colleagues in your areas of expertise.
• Apply and enforce hygiene and safety rules in the lab.
• Scientific and technical watch: Stay updated on innovations and advancements in your field of expertise.

Your Profil

Skills

Theoretical Knowledge:
• Strong foundation in animal biology (physiology, anatomy, histology).
• Proficiency in mathematical and statistical calculations.
• Knowledge of hygiene and safety regulations.
• English proficiency: B2 level (both written and oral) for effective communication in an international scientific environment.
Practical Skills:
• Experience in animal experimentation and familiarity with related techniques.
• Ability to handle animals (restraint, injections, sampling) with precision and adherence to ethical guidelines.
• Histological sectioning (Cryostat).
• Implementation of biology and immunohistochemistry techniques.
• Rigorous organization: Plan daily tasks and report on activities effectively.
• Proficiency in computer tools for literature research, data analysis, formatting, and archiving results.
• Personal qualities: Motivation, dynamism, rigor, and a strong sense of responsibility.
• Teamwork: Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues.
• Animal experimentation certification (designer level) is highly desirable.

Your Work Environment

Work Environment
Location:
You will join the ISTCT unit (Imaging and Therapeutic Strategies for Cancers and Cerebral Tissues), a joint CNRS/University of Caen-Normandy research unit focused on studying hypoxic tumors (brain, lung) and developing innovative therapeutic strategies. The successful candidate will join the team, based at the CYCERON biomedical imaging platform in Caen, Normandy, which comprises 25 members.
Working Conditions:
• Work in a research laboratory, including an animal physiology lab and preclinical imaging facilities.
• Flexibility required: Adaptability to scheduling constraints and project needs.
• You will be trained and supervised by expert engineers and researchers in animal experimentation and preclinical imaging.

Constraints and risks

This position involves regular handling of rodents. It is therefore essential that candidates are not allergic to these animals.
