Job Description
Missions
The candidate will join the MANOIR team at IP2I, which consists of 2 university professors, 1 associate professor, and 4 CNRS researchers. The team is working on two projects: TESSERACT—aimed at detecting light dark matter and funded by the TES4DM project—and Ricochet, which focuses on studying low-energy neutrino physics through the process of coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering. The candidate's work will primarily focus on the future TESSERACT experiment, particularly within the TES4DM project led by IP2I, LPSC, and IJCLab. They will be involved in the R&D of low-voltage cryogenic detector technology, including its development, assembly, and operation on IP2I's CRYORED cryogenic platform. Additionally, the candidate will adapt this detector technology for the TESSERACT infrastructure at the Modane Underground Laboratory, contributing to instrumentation, validation of the experimental setup (first at LPSC and then on-site), and the analysis of the data produced.
Activity
- The candidate will be involved in experimental work related to the development of the low-voltage cryogenic detector technology for TES4DM, including assembly, instrumentation, operation, and data analysis from validation tests on the cryostats at IP2I's CRYORED platform and the TESSERACT cryostat during its commissioning at LPSC.
- They will also conduct phenomenological studies of TES4DM's low-voltage technology, using Ge and Si targets, as part of the search for light dark matter with the future TESSERACT experiment.
- Supervision of students on all of the research activities defined above
- Writing scientific articles and conference presentations
Your Profil
Skills
- Knowledge of astroparticle physics and detection methods.
- Good knowledge of methods associated with experimental physics (detection, data acquisition) and data analysis.
- Good experience in scientific communication (English) and writing scientific articles.
- Teamwork, scientific mindset, and autonomy.
Your Work Environment
The candidate will be required to travel within France and abroad for collaboration meetings with TESSERACT's international partners, integration tests in the TESSERACT cryostat at LPSC during its commissioning, and to present research findings from the TES4DM project—and the broader TESSERACT initiative—at international conferences.
Constraints and risks
A start date around December 1, 2026 would be particularly appreciated, but the candidate could begin their contract no later than March 1, 2027.
