Job Description
Missions
Develop innovative methods for analyzing weak gravitational lensing data from next-generation cosmological surveys (LSST, Euclid, Roman). The focus will be on topological data analysis and simulation-based inference to extract cosmological information from non-Gaussian signals in large-scale structure, aiming to constrain dark matter and dark energy.
Contribute to the LSST-DESC analyses by developing realistic weak-lensing simulations with cosmological and observational systematics, and designing robust simulation-based inference methods for topological descriptors. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to work with the first science-ready data obtained by the Vera C. Rubin Observatory.
Activity
•Develop realistic weak-lensing simulations with cosmological and observational systematics.
•Design robust simulation-based inference methods for topological descriptors.
•Contribute to LSST-DESC analyses.
•Work with the first science-ready data from the Vera C. Rubin Observatory.
•Collaborate with team members on projects related to gamma-ray bursts and cosmic-ray phenomenology.
Your Profil
Skills
•PhD in astrophysics or a closely related field.
•Experience in observational cosmology, statistical data analysis, numerical simulations, and/or machine learning (an asset).
•Proficiency in data analysis and simulation tools.
•Ability to work in a team and collaborate with international partners.
•Good command of scientific English (French is not required).
Your Work Environment
The Grenoble Laboratory of Subatomic Physics and Cosmology (LPSC) (http://lpsc.in2p3.fr) is a joint research unit bringing together the CNRS-IN2P3, the University of Grenoble Alpes (UGA), and the Grenoble INP school, with an average staff of around 230 people. The successful candidate will join the Observational Cosmology group, under the direct supervision of the group leader. The Observational Cosmology team is a dynamic team with 12 permanent members specializing in CMB and galactic surveys, as well as doctoral and postdoctoral students. The group is heavily involved in LSST, particularly in the construction of the camera, the commissioning of the Rubin Observatory, cosmological inference, and the validation of the first scientific data. The group also conducts key analyses within the international LSST Dark Energy Science Collaboration (DESC). The LPSC benefits from a network of laboratories collaborating on LSST, offering scientific partnerships in France and access to high-performance computing resources (CC-IN2P3).
