Number of position : 1
Workplace : GRENOBLE
Date of publication : 30 September 2024
Type of Contract : FTC Scientist
Contract Period : 6 months

Missions

The job of the person recruited will be to finalize the simulation (with Geant4 and associated codes) and experimental comparison work undertaken as part of the PICTURE project, and more broadly around the biophysical modeling of biological damage (at cellular and DNA scales) due to irradiation with ions of different LET and energies.

Activities

1) Monte Carlo simulations using a CPOP/Geant4 calculation chain and biophysical calculations (cell survival and TCP calculations using the NanOx model) to study the impact of intracellular and intratumoral heterogeneities on TAT efficacy prediction.
(1 article planned)
2) Simulations with Geant4-DNA to calculate the number and complexity of DNA breaks induced by ions of various types and energies, for different compaction of the DNA molecule in the cell nucleus. The aim is to predict the probability of chromosomal aberration induction using the simulations and the RITCARD code as a function of irradiation configurations. ( 1 benchmark article planned)

Skills

As the contract is short, the person will need to have a thorough knowledge of Monte Carlo simulations, Geant4 and Python programming (required for analysis), as well as a good knowledge of English (written and spoken) due to the collaborative work and written productions expected.

Work Context

Recruitment will be based at the Grenoble Laboratory of Subatomic Physics and Cosmology (LPSC) (http://lpsc.in2p3.fr ), a joint research unit involving CNRS-IN2P3, Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) and Grenoble INP, with an average staff of around 230. The postdoctoral fellow will be part of the PNAM (Physique Nucléaire et Applications Médicales) team, which has developed expertise in instrumental development and numerical simulation for radiotherapy. He will also make frequent missions to the Laboratoire de Physique des 2 Infinis de Bordeaux (LP2I-Bordeaux), which also a joint CNRS-IN2P3 research laboratory, hosted in the IRIBIO team.

The position is located in a sector under the protection of scientific and technical potential (PPST), and therefore requires, in accordance with the regulations, that your arrival is authorized by the competent authority of the MESR.
