The researcher will be in charge of the development of a new instrument, CMB-HRO, for the measurement of the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) at high resolution. In particular, by the gravitational lensing effect in the CMB anisotropies and by the detection of galaxy clusters by the Sunyaev-Zeldovich effect.
The researcher will define the scientific requirements and translate them into instrumental specifications. He/she will also develop simulation and analysis tools in order to obtain the performances of the instrument for the different proposed configurations.
- Estimation of the performance of the instrument for the detection of galaxy clusters and the gravitational lensing effect.
- Estimation of the figure of merit of comological analyses from galaxy clusters and the gravitational lensing effect.
-Estimation of the scientific needs in order to define the characteristics of the instrument in collaboration with the instrumental team at the LPSC and at the Néel Institute
Thesis in cosmology or astrophysics.
Experience with CMB or millimeter instruments will be evaluated.
The Laboratory of Subatomic Physics and Cosmology of Grenoble (LPSC) (http://lpsc.in2p3.fr) is a joint research unit associating CNRS-IN2P3, the University of Grenoble Alpes (UGA) and Grenoble INP, for an average staff of about 230 people.
The researcher will be assigned to the COSMO-ML team composed of 4 researchers, 2 PhD students and 1 postdoc, under the responsibility of Juan Macias-Perez and in collaboration with the Néel Institute
