Missions

A postdoc position has opened in the group of Ludovic Jaubert in Bordeaux to work on the theory of frustrated magnetism in collaboration with the group of Lode Pollet in LMU Munich. Our goal will be to explore the physics of centered pyrochlores, a family of materials recently discovered in metal-organic frameworks.

Activités

- numerical simulations: Monte Carlo ...
- analytical calculations: field theory ...
- 2-3 months visit to LMU Munich.
- data analysis (numerical and experimental).
- presentation at conferences and paper writing.
The project is expected to be both numerical and analytical, but it can be adapted depending on the selected candidate.

Compétences

The candidate is expected to have a PhD in physics and a solid background in statistical physics, math, programming and English. A strong experience in condensed matter and numerical simulations will be an asset, but excellent and motivated candidates coming from a different field are welcome to apply. The selection process will be based on scientific creativity and academic achievements rather than technical skills alone.

Contexte de travail

The selected candidate will work at LOMA in the University of Bordeaux, an institute with ~50 Faculties, 1/3 of whom are theorists in condensed or soft matter. This job is funded by a German-French grant (ANR-DFG).
The hiring date is flexible and can start as early as March 1st, 2024. We are especially loooking for researchers who will have defended their PhD thesis less than 2 years before the hiring date. More experienced researchers are welcome to apply, but the salary and duration of contract (~18 months) will be adapted according to current regulations.

To apply, please submit:
- your CV including a list of publications,
- a cover letter including your research interests,
- at least two letters of recommendation to be sent to ludovic.jaubert@u-bordeaux.fr, indicating the name of the candidate in the subject of the email.

Applications received before December 17th, 2023 will receive our full consideration, and the position will remain open until filled. Interested candidates are invited to contact us for any informal requests.
