Job Description
Missions
Fluid mechanics experiments conducted as part of an ANR grant exploring the relationship between hydrodynamic fluctuations and interactions among objects of various shapes and sizes
Activity
The main activity will involve conducting experiments with thin films undergoing flow. These flows will be made turbulent by various mechanisms, ranging from the presence of obstacles to the generation of vortices by electromagnetic effects. The interactions between different obstacles will be characterized. The properties of the flows will be measured using various techniques, ranging from Particle tracking, particle image velocimetry to laser Doppler velocimetry.
Your Profil
Skills
Excellent knowledge of fluid mechanics, velocimetry, and statistical physics. Skills in conducting experiments, including a thorough understanding of velocimetry techniques using particle imaging/tracking or laser Doppler velocimetry, are required. Data analysis using statistical techniques as well as minimal modeling is also big plus.
Your Work Environment
This PhD is part of a collaborative ANR project between LOMA at the University of Bordeaux and IRPHE at Aix-Marseille University.
Constraints and risks
The usual risks associated with laboratory work, as well as risks related to exposure to lasers.
