Job Description

Missions

The LP2iB group is strongly committed to the JUNO project, with activities centred on the use and analysis of the small photomultiplier system (SPMT), for which the laboratory developed the front-end electronics, as well as on simulation optimisation and reactor neutrino data analysis.

Activity

The successful candidate will be actively involved in analysing data from the SPMT system and in developing and optimising simulations for the JUNO experiment. They will also participate in reactor data analysis, with a focus on background rates and energy spectra, which are crucial for the precise determination of the neutrino mass hierarchy.

Your Profil

Skills

The candidate should have been awarded a PhD between 2025 and 2026. They should demonstrate a high degree of independence and possess skills in both hardware and software development.

Your Work Environment

The JUNO (Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory) experiment is a 20 kilo-ton multi-purpose underground liquid scintillator (LS) detector located in China, designed to observe neutrinos from nuclear reactors at a distance of 53 km. Thanks to its excellent energy resolution and large fiducial volume, JUNO aims to determine the neutrino mass hierarchy and perform precise measurements of several oscillation parameters. Additionally, JUNO will explore key topics in neutrino and astroparticles physics, including supernova detection and proton decay. Data collection began in August 2025, and the first results from 59 days of reactor neutrino data have already established JUNO as the world leading experiment for the precision of the solar oscillation parameters.
