- Research experience in free probability theory and on random matrices
- Knowledge about random tensors and/or quantum information theory is non-mandatory but appreciated.

Contexte de travail

Application deadline December 10, 2025. Documents recquired: a CV, a cover letter that must include a research statement (past and on going research), and two recomandation letters, to be sent directly at the mail address: postdoc-applications-lionni@ens-lyon.fr .

Starting date expected in the fall 2026. No teaching duties.

The position will be in the physics department of the institute (https://www.ens-lyon.fr/PHYSIQUE/accueil-new?set_language=en&cl=en), in the theoretical physics team (gravity, quantum gravity, quantum field theory, quantum information, statistical physics, condensed matter, integrability, random matrices, etc...).

The mathematics department of ENS (https://www.umpa.ens-lyon.fr/accueil-bis?set_language=en&cl=en) is three floors above,
and the mathematics department of the university is on the other side of town (https://math.univ-lyon1.fr/icj/). There is intensive research on random matrices and related in both departments.

The successful applicant will be hired for this postdoc position by the CNRS, which gives access to
- 44 days of vacation per year
- a university restaurant for lunch during weekdays
- partial reimbursement of transportation tickets (75%) + up to 300€/year to cover the cost of a "sustainable" transport (such as a bicycle)
