Job Description

Missions

The researcher will work on testing the functional links between transcription factor condensate formation and autophagy, and the involvement of these processes in the temporal interpretation of auxin information and the control of organogenesis timing in the shoot apical meristem of plants.

Activity

The researcher will combine biochemical methods (e.g., proximity labeling), cellular biology techniques (live-cell and tissue imaging, drug treatments, etc.), and molecular genetics approaches (mutants, cloning, plant genetic transformation, genotyping, etc.), along with multi-scale phenotyping to investigate notably:
• The presence of condensates containing Auxin Response Factors (ARFs) in the shoot apical meristem and the role of auxin in the formation of these condensates;
• The role of autophagy in controlling the dynamics of organogenesis in the shoot apical meristem;
• The role of autophagy in the formation of ARF condensates in the shoot apical meristem.
He/she will develop the tools and methodologies required to carry out all these approaches. He/she will also be expected to spend time at the University of Heidelberg, particularly for conducting biochemical approaches. He/she will use standard software, and if necessary, software developed in collaboration with the RDP laboratory, to analyze the data he/she produces. He/she will actively participate in the design of experiments and implement them autonomously.

Your Profil

Skills

• Excellent knowledge of plant cell biology, plant physiology and development, as well as the mechanisms regulating gene expression, particularly in response to plant hormones;
• Strong experience in molecular biology, plant genetics, and plant molecular genetics;
• Familiarity with plant biochemistry approaches;
• Proficiency in cellular and tissue-level imaging techniques and the analysis of corresponding data;
• Autonomy in designing, executing, and analyzing experimental results;
• Excellent ability to integrate and work in a team;
• Excellent ability to present results in writing and orally;
• English: read, written, and spoken fluently.

Your Work Environment

The researcher will work in the SIGNAL ("Signalisation hormonale et développement") team of the Reproduction et Développement des Plantes Laboratory (RPD, CNRS UMR 5667, Lyon), see http://www.ens-lyon.fr/RDP/signalisation-hormonale-et-developpement/. His/her work will also be part of a close collaboration with the Evolutionary Cell Biology laboratory at the Centre for Organismal Studies, University of Heidelberg, Germany (https://www.cos.uni-heidelberg.de/en/evolutionary-cell-biology).
